About Us

Northern Search and Rescue (NSAR) is a volunteer-based, nonprofit organization located in Bayfield County, Wisconsin, dedicated to locating missing persons through professional search and rescue services. We are a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization serving Wisconsin and surrounding regions.

Our mission is simple: to help find the missing and bring answers to families.

We support law enforcement agencies, emergency management organizations, fire departments, and families during active missing person incidents, recovery operations, and selected cold case investigations. Our team utilizes nationally certified K9 search teams, trained ground search personnel, and community volunteers to assist in search efforts.

All of our services are provided free of charge. We never bill families, agencies, or organizations for our assistance.

Northern Search and Rescue maintains a high level of readiness through ongoing training, continuing education, and partnerships with other search and rescue organizations. We are committed to professionalism, integrity, compassion, and service to our communities.
